How you found the whole experience‌ -

Well, where do I start. The best development day I have attended in pharmaceutical career. Extremely motivational, realistic to what we do and more importantly it has reignited something in me. What this something is I don't know but what I do know, I have come away thinking it's time to really deliver on what I believe makes me special.

Thank you for a fabulous day, I thoroughly enjoyed having 2 such prominent role models in the room.
I think their attitude and approach to their craft has such strong links with how we operate, the links that were made to bring it back to our industry and to the theory made this day so impactful for me... I had some surprising realisations about where I am now and where I would like to be, but also around my values. It's not something you generally sit down and think about and having that opportunity is what really opened my eyes to what's truly important to me inside and outside of my working life.

I left the day having faced the fact that I need a bit more direction, that I need greater clarity on the goals I wish to achieve and having done that I can then put in the necessary steps to achieve them.. So, thank you so much for the opportunity to do that BUT also to let me get that close to 2 of my biggest idols growing up.

I was, and still am, truly inspired by the sentiments which Roger, Steve and Paul talked about. The areas of development which we discussed had more significance when our guests related them to their sporting achievements, which made them much more tangible to the audience. For me, the points which resonated were those traits to success which both of them spoke about:

  • Passion
  • Self-belief
  • Surrounding yourself with talented people (this I particularly warmed to, equally I feel this also extends to positive people)
  • Absolute clarity and to start with the end in mind (this is something I need to work on moving forward) to deliver your max performance

I have been inspired to focus more on my visualisation techniques, the tips and anecdotes they shared have helped in areas which I was stumbling, and with tenacity I believe I can overcome them. See it, feel it and trust it will be my mantra.

What an inspirational day!! I found both Steve and Rogers stories very motivating and thought provoking.
Paul as usual always provides me with lots to think about and focus on for my personal and business development.

The few things I took away from this day are:

  1. What do I need and want which one is more important.
  2. To be successful you may only need to change a few things in order to achieve great results.
  3. Team working ,how this can give better results and better understanding of each other.
  4. Focusing on my end result will also give me the framework on how to achieve this and the mind needs to be the key in focusing on this.

Inspirational! It was a great day, and very exciting too. I have always been a huge fan of Roger Black, not least because of his sporting achievements.

For me the key lesson was from Steve Backley: "Know what success means for you." I need to give this some serious thought. This does not mean the lessons Steve demonstrated, i.e., setting goals first and then building the processes and planning to achieve them cannot be immediately employed - they will be. I thought Steve was an excellent speaker who presented complex concepts in an easy to understand manner. His clarity and brevity hid the true depth of his knowledge.

The exercise Paul Mallinson led on identifying and distilling our values helped towards answering Steve's question. Over time, and I mean decades, my values and my definition of success have changed as I have become more cynical, and I have yet to update them. I guess I cannot hold onto the beliefs that fired my youth; the idealism afforded to oneself as a teenager is dented and eroded by the necessary responsibilities of marriage, family and career. The obvious conclusion is, therefore, that in my own time I will re-visit the list of values and repeat the exercise to confirm, or not, the conclusions reached on the day.

First of all, thanks for inviting me to your regional meeting, it was very informative and obviously very motivational.

I had three main learnings from the training day;

  1. "Surrounding yourself with Talent"
This concept is so simple but so true. When you're in the company of successful and talented people you instantaneously raise your game and perform.
  2. "Outcome Goal, Performance goal and Process Goal"
Working with the end in mind, which could encourage to think "Big Picture" rather than short-term.
  3. "Visualisation".
I always have clear pre-call objectives but I have never visualised the actual call into what it would look like, sound like etc...This is something that I will start doing with the key customers, whom it is difficult to see so the one call is even more important.

Thanks once again for a totally mind blowing experience. I thought the way the introduction was delivered was so funny. Even Roger commented on mine & Lynn's jaw sweeping the floor like brushes.

I think that I took some interesting stuff from their experiences and the way that Paul used the models to describe their actions cemented what they were saying.

For example, I always like to just get out on the road and see customers, talk to them and see where we can take things. Then filling in savi etc etc is a real personal pain for me. I hope I can now understand that even Steve & Roger had to do the mundane tasks routinely, like the position they held their hand in, or swung their body into a different shape to get a better throw of the javelin had to be practised in order for them to reach their ultimate long-term goals.

If I can keep the momentum in the real world, I hope to be able to at least keep on top of the mundane tasks that I always procrastinate on to myself, I understand that I can't do the things I like all the time, I have to do some of the other stuff in order to reach my long-term goals.

I've only given this small example as I feel a bit swept up in the whole experience right now, I don't want to over promise & under deliver but I really have taken a lot from this & have other ideas, just let me come down to earth first!!

The second day was everything I had hoped it would be, inspirational, motivational and very enjoyable. I was very much in my comfort zone being with people who have a real interest in sport, listening to their stories of achievement and success, which has been a real love of mine.

Also having studied sports science at university many years ago, some of what they covered certainly rang some bells. What was truly enlightening for me was the delivery of the session by Paul Mallinson, he enabled me to translate the stories by Steve and Roger into my every day working life, particularly when he linked into our own individual vision, values and goals.

Day 2 was inspiring, and extremely thought provoking - even I managed to understand eventually that I too could see it, feel it and trust it. Not at the beginning but after listening and having conversations with the trainer and guests.
